About American Hearing Labs

American Hearing Laboratories (AHL) was founded in 1984 as an all-make-repair-laboratory and expanded to hearing aid sales and service in 1989. AHL has since expanded to many areas around the DFW Metroplex including
Ft. Worth, Carrollton, Garland/Mesquite, Denton, Keller, Tyler and Canton, TX.

The problem with many hearing aid outlets is that the person who tests you and orders the hearing aid has never built a hearing aid, and doesn't know all the technical options available for your hearing loss. He then sends your order to a technician who doesn't understand how to fit a hearing aid like a good hearing instrument specialist or audiologist should.

At American Hearing Laboratories we have bridged the gap. We are both hearing aid fitters, dispensers, and technicians. We have been trained in both the testing and fitting of hearing aids and in the manufacturing and repair of the devices. Because of the varied areas of expertise represented at the American Hearing Laboratories, a number of unique services are available. Why do I need a trained audiologist?
Trained AudiologistsAudiological scientists develop ways to measure and compensate for hearing loss, and for diagnosing neurological diseases. They work directly with patients, often children or elderly people. They play both a clinical role and a managerial development role and are the driving force behind the development of audiology services in many areas. They are members of a multidisciplinary team, usually hospital-based, which is concerned with the identification, diagnosis and rehabilitation of hearing and balance disorders.

Fully trained audiological scientists will have a substantial amount of theoretical knowledge about hearing, acoustics and balance, able to critically interpret and report the results of procedures. This knowledge enables the scientist to solve technical problems, and when necessary to develop logical alternatives.

Audiological scientists have background knowledge of the scientific and technical basis which hearing science involves, enabling them to act as co-ordinator, manager and initiator of service development. American Hearing Laboratories has trained audiologists on staff to serve you and your individual needs.
